Hypnosis is about bypassing the critical part of the mind (known as the Critical Factor) to reach directly into the subconscious mind so that, what is being suggested, has the greatest beneficial effect on the client.
When we do Awake Hypnosis, we occupy the conscious mind by using it to guide the fingers of the non-dominant hand to specific acupressure points. This enables what we say to be more readily accepted by the subconscious mind - we physically alter the way neural firings occur within the brain - and by changing these neural pathways, we alter our moods. By using the non-dominant hand, the ‘spatial/forgiving/creative’ side of the brain comes into play which further increases the effectiveness of the technique.
Tapping on specific acupressure points causes the body to become physically calmer and by vocalizing for any negative moods, fears or problems we cause the subconscious mind to alter the way we FEEL about them.
Originally developed by Stanford engineer Gary Craig under the name of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), this simple but effective self-hypnosis tool is now being used by hypnotherapists, psychologists and energy therapists around the world. When practiced regularly, the benefits are extremely quick, effective and permanent.

Begin by tapping on the side of the dominant hand, the fleshy bit at the bottom of the little finger, and repeat the Problem statement, as shown in the Standard Procedure on the next page, inserting the words that best describe your particular problem (e.g. 'this terrible fear of public speaking' or 'this anger at my father', etc). Then tap on each of the acupressure points about 7 times whilst using the shortened Anchor phrase (e.g. 'this fear', 'this anger') but still remaining focused on your problem. Continue with the procedure FIVE times until you feel all the excess emotion has been reduced. You can then proceed through any other bits of the problem that might still be troubling you.
